The Baroque of Martina Franca

This is my home town and we are delighted to share this little and unspoiled part of Italy with you. Martina Franca's origins trace back to the 10th century, and became a refuge for those fleeing the Arab invasion of Taranto.
The city was named after its patron saint, St. Martin (the bishop of Tours) who famously used his sword to cut his cloak in two and shared with a scantily clad beggar, who later came to him in his dream as Jesus wearing the half of his cloak.
Martina Franca is famous in the surroundings areas for prominent Baroque gates leading to piazzas and narrow winding streets...
